Pres. Obama and Gov. Romney there must be a national debate over this growing crisis! Gun deaths and mass incarcerations deteriorate all that is good about our nation.
Between 2000 and 2009, guns killed nearly 300,000 people in the U.S¹. And, with only 5% of the world's population, the U.S. has 25% of the world's prisoners². The cost of incarceration for U.S. taxpayers? A staggering $63.4 billion dollars a year³.
Our nation -- and our future generations -- need to be part of the debate!

We probably need to go back to the basics. We need to teach our children and furture generations the value of human life and the value of the word of God. We act as if we do not need the word of God; and yet we do things that make no sense at all. When you ask a prisoner why did he/she do that, they have this blank look on their face and tell you, they do not know why! Crazy!
We are a great nation, we have freedoms here that no other country has, on the plant. But if we forget where these values came from and how our fore fathers endorsed these values; we will be a nation of crazy, unlawful people. We will be no different than the people incarcerated in our prisons.
It is not the guns, it is the people behind the guns.

We must reform our prison system and curtail the predatory policing of minority neighborhoods. The police are out of control and their power must be diminished. There are far too many cops, we need to fire at least half of them and replace them with teachers and programs to help inner city youth. The more police we have the more people we have being arrested for meaningless offences that harm no one but destroy the lives of the arrested person.
Also, prison terms need to be limited to no more than 3 years except for the most serious of violent crimes. Possession of drugs must be decriminalized, fines, drug treatment and community service must replace jail time as punishments.
Also, former felons that have paid their debt to society should be able to vote in every state and not have any of their rights diminished in any way.
